APOLLO NSUBUGA-KYOBE Tribute
AMCF TRIBUTE TO LATE DR APOLLO NSUBUGA-KYOBE
We recently lost Dr Apollo Nsubuga-Kyobe, a founding steering committee member of the African Music and Cultural Festival (AMCF).
A tireless advocate of African Communities in Victoria and across Australia at large, Dr. Apollo was a key figure in putting together the bricks and foundations of what we are celebrating today and what we have been celebrating in the last 9 years through this Festival.
An AMCF Steering Committee member since our inception, Dr. Apollo was a Citizen of the world. He was known and appreciated by the many communities including Asian, Pacific Islander, Indigenous Australian, African and mainstream Australia.
The heartfelt tribute by the Minister for Multicultural Affairs Hon. Ros Spence on the day of his passing rightly highlighted “the great man short in stature, but giant among African Australian Communities”. A pioneer, a mentor, a pace setter but most importantly a man of honour with a big heart.
Dr. Apollo will be missed, he will be remembered, but we will always see our successes and accomplishments as a testament and tribute to what he has helped shape and has left behind.
